Overview
GDPR app is a challenging and dynamic web application. The web app is divided into many different roles, and each role depends on the others. The application was built to ensure compliance with data protection regulations across user interactions.
One of the challenges was maintaining tests so that each role could have proper details. Another challenge was the dynamic nature of the application – each action taken by one role affects the details of other roles, making it very dynamic to handle. Additionally, the app was unstable and down sometimes, and there were lots of requirement changes during the project.
The Challenge
The GDPR app was a highly dynamic and complex web application with multiple interdependent user roles. Each role’s actions directly affected others, making test maintenance a significant challenge. Additional complications included:
- Frequent application instability and downtime
- Constant requirement changes throughout the project
- Highly dynamic UI where each role’s actions impacted other roles’ data
The Solution
TestUnity deployed a dedicated team of 3 QA engineers who implemented a robust automation strategy using Selenium, Appium, and Cucumber. The solution focused on creating maintainable test scripts that could handle dynamic UI changes and isolated test data for each user role to prevent cross-dependencies.
The Approach
Our team adopted a structured approach: we first analyzed the role-based workflows, then built a modular test framework. We implemented retry mechanisms to handle application instability and continuously updated test cases to accommodate changing requirements. Regular client syncs ensured alignment on new features.
📊 Key Results
- 200+ test scenarios automated – covering all critical user journeys
- 60% reduction in regression testing time compared to manual testing
- Zero critical bugs post-launch for core GDPR compliance features
- Stable automation suite – tests now handle dynamic role-based scenarios reliably
